So, you wanna use your Onyx-i Series mixer with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8?
Mackie Onyx-i Series Mixers are qualified by Mackie for use with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8 on both Mac and PC.
At this time, no other Mackie audio interface products are qualified for use with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8.
To use your Onyx-i Mixer with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8, you will need to do the following:
* Register your Onyx-i mixer by visiting my.mackie.com and either setting up a new user account or logging into your existing one
* After registering your mixer (which is free and recommended anyway), you will be prompted to purchase a package that includes the Mackie Universal Driver and Mackie Authorization Application ($49.99 USD) that unlocks your mixer for use with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8. Instructions and purchase options for the driver will be presented at my.mackie.com after you register your Onyx-i Mixer. The driver purchase allows your registered mixer to work with as many supported computers running Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8 as you have access to (Mac or PC)
* Purchase and install Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8 following all of Avid’s® installation guidelines (yeah, we know you know this already, but we gotta say it anyway)
To find out if your computer is compatible with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8, please visit:

From there you will be able to select Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8 and your operating system (Mac, XP, Vista, etc.) from a drop-down box. This will then take you to the latest support info regarding your setup’s compatibility with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8. If your computer’s specifications do not match the requirements found on that page, it is not supported for use with Pro Tools® M-Powered™ 8.
Also, to find out if your computer is compatible with Onyx-i FireWire Recording Mixers, see the support information at the bottom of this page.

No me suena que sea controladora, porque que yo sepa no tiene fadders automatizados... Creo que la diferencia entre las onyx y las onyx-i es que la onyx-i trae digamos el interfaz firewire ya incorporado, sin embargo con la onyx a secas, tenías que pagarlo e instalarlo. Corregidme si me equivoco...
Pero sus previos son considerados y si te permite chutar 16 canales o más sin direct outs, ni adats, sino por firewire y encima te puedes hacer una PA y unos monitores a la vez... Porque la serie grandecilla trae como 6 auxiliares u 8...
Un poco oportunista lo de cobrar, porque bastante atrayente es ya que sea la única mesa que rula como interfaz para pro tools... Aunque tendrán que amortizar la inversión de sacar el driver, que al haberlo hecho "inversamente" y sin autorización, no habrá sido barato.
En serio, esto de las onyx-i me parece interesante para un futuro... Si alguien ha probado que rula de verdad, que informe.
