Lauki is an instrument whose visual qualities define the musical outcome. It consists of a grid of many hundred identical small boxes which trigger a looping sound when clicked on. By importing custom sounds, you are able to use Lauki as a palette where sounds are set into looping patterns in different frequencies according to the boxes' position on the screen.
Picker is an OSC (Open Sound Control) interface which has video and images as colour filters. The four pickers of the application pick up and send thouse colour values as OSC information to the application that hosts the sound engine. OSC is a new protocol which improves on the limitations of MIDI. At present, Supercollider, Max/MSP, Pure Data and Reaktor are good examples of sound software that support OSC.
Sound Crystals is a space where objects with attached sounds can be created. It is a kind of a "pool" where randomly shaped crystals become alive and emit, in a strange and unexpectable way, the sounds attatched to them. The sounds change with the location and movement of the crystals.
