Latest edition of Guitarist reveals the plans of a Fender signature Strat based on David’s all black 1970 Stratocaster. Interesting really, since David has waved this off many times. It will be a Custom Shop model so we can expect much focus on detail.
Mike Eldred from Fender expects the guitar to be released sometime late next year or early 2008.
Then it’s confirmed! There will be a David Gilmour Stratocaster by Fender! Expected release is sometime in 2008… Check out David’s blog for more.
ans have been asking if they'll ever be able to get their hands on one, but we can now confirm that there will indeed be a David Gilmour custom Fender Stratocaster.
It's the famous black Strat, as shown above, and we're looking at it being in the shops in July 2008 (subject to change, naturally).
Although it's premature to say so, there's likely to be a competition to win one of these closer to the release of David's 'On An Island' DVD next year (with details to follow, so please don't bother asking us for them). We'll keep you posted.
That's all we can say for now, as discussions are still taking place and details finalised, but we hope this news pleases those of you who have been enquiring about such a guitar for many years now.
