The Barely Breaking Even movement began several years ago when Peter Adarkwah and Ben Jolly met at Gray's nightclub in London.
Pete had been DJ'ing at friend's parties for several years and had just graduated to his first gig on the club scene. First and foremost a music lover and collector Pete had discovered a previously unknown aptitude when he started spinning the tunes. Meanwhile, Ben had been providing sound systems with the legendary Renegades PA hire company since the spring of 1992. Although working every weekend in and around the capital in clubs as diverse as Ministry of Sound, The Lazerdrome, The Milk Bar, Bar Rumba and various warehouse spaces, Ben had reached a point where he felt it was time to move on to pastures new.

Bombay Records, as the name implies, was founded by a couple of brown guys. Nav Bhinder was born in India, abandoned in the jungle at the age of two, and raised by a family of Bengal tigers. It was a happy life in the jungle, as Nav spent his days learning to hunt and listening to the tribal drums of the natives. His peaceful existence was ripped apart, however, by poachers who killed his family and turned them into Chinese herbal remedies and rugs. The poachers sold Nav into bonded labour in the Bollywood film industry, where he worked grueling 18-hour days as a child star of religious action/musical films. It was here that he met the other brown guy behind Bombay Records, Patrick Masih, another child slave who ran lunch trays between sets. Together they managed to escape, stowing away on a ship laden with curry powder - the smell of which follows them to this day - that was bound for Canada. Patrick stayed in Toronto to work in an Indian convenience/video store, while Nav continued traveling to England under the impression that there were tigers there. After realizing his mistake, Nav spent enough time in England to acquire a British accent, then left to rejoin Patrick in Canada.

was sometime around the fall of 1998 when Rob Paine and Dan McGehean were sitting around and having…um…tea one afternoon in philly when the concept of Worship Recordings came into sight. With both the right ingredients that the two had to offer - a label was born. And with the insight of long time bredren Zach Eberz (other half of Solomonic Sound) Worship Recordings was molded into a label that concentrates on the dub factor of house music.
Whether it is deep and bubbling or jakin and rollin' there is always a mix that any house head can't test on a Worship plate. Worship will be taking dub music to its furthest ends weaving house and reggae side by side in this here I-wah.
