I'm going to split the upgrade in two or more parts, as its more than big enough already, and the workflow improvements are very important. Of course the upgrade price will be much lower than originally planned then.
Coincidentally, Duke Nukem Forever is scheduled to be released around the same time as Orion 8 (Feb 2011). It's 13 years development time for DNF though, longer than Orion exists

- New Effect added: Vintage Chorus
- New Effect added: Compressor V8, superseding the former V7 one

Drag+Drop support for MIDI clips and 12-Bit vintage switch per track
- Dynamic Navigation Bar added at the top of the Playlist, which simultaneously allows to zoom+scroll and furthermore gives an overview of the entire project.
- All instruments can be shuffled (including VST plugins) using the Arp/Shuffle dialog
- Song Merge function, which allows to merge arbitrary parts of projects
- Powerful Templates system
- New MIDI In manager, which displays all assigned MIDI controllers and allows to unlink them
- Transport buttons can be controlled via MIDI CC
- New sample content in high 24-bit stereo quality, powered by sampling company YelloW Tools
- Extended skin system, which allows to customize window frames and title bars
Enhancements:
- MIDI Controller Templates or Presets can be created for any instrument or plugin
- In Song Mode, it is now possible to record MIDI clips of arbitrary length directly, without having to insert patterns first
- Patterns can be resized directly in the playlist now, by grabbing them at the edges
- Multiple Sounds in the DrumRack may be stacked now by setting them to the same MIDI key number
- DrumRack LM4 import improved so that it reads the stored MIDI key number as well
- 64-bit double-precision summing option for the mixer
- When streaming to disk, automation is now 8x more accurate than before
- Custom colors defined in the arrangement view are now stored between sessions
- Song info image supports PNG and has no size constraints anymore
- Mixer faders can be controlled via Mousewheel now and offer increased precision by holding shift while dragging
- Key names of VST instruments are now optionally shown in the piano roll ('rng' button)

- LFO Tool has tempo sync and can be used in Song mode
- Play Cursor centric zooming option for the playlist, piano roll, and event editors
- VST scanning now uses a large database of popular plugins, greatly speeding up the VST scanning process on startup
- Unassigned effects shown in brackets [] in popup menus
- Mousewheel behavior in the arrangement window is now consistent with the piano roll behavior
- Last pattern inserted into playlist is now remembered individually per track (saving a few clicks sometimes)
- MIDI Clips can be timestretched by holding down the 'CTRL' key
- Installed Sample content is now displayed in the Sample Path configuration dialog.
- Arpeggiator dialog is now modeless so it does not interfere with the workflow
- New Pan Laws for the Mixer added (Balanced, Equal Power, Linear)
- Plucked String and Dune support Orion's microtuning now
- Mousewheel support for most knobs and faders
- Windows can be rolled by double-clicking on the title bars
Bug fixes:
- Mixer window did not always resize properly when new generators were added- fixed.
- Opening/Closing the Piano Roll caused the audio engine to stutter sometimes, fixed.
- When recording pattern automation and then undoing it, the event editor was not updated, fixed.
- Master channel automation was visible when opening the mixer channels event window, fixed.
- When using the T-Slide control in internal generators, copying their patterns to VSTi's crashed Orion, fixed.
- Bundling incomplete or corrupted WAV files into projects could cause crashes later when loading them, fixed.
- Assigning MIDI Controllers to master section faders while playing could freeze Orion, fixed.
- Main VU meters did not always show the correct peaks, fixed.
- StereoFX holder had L/R controls swapped, fixed.
- Plucked String had zipper noise on Volume knob, fixed.
- Sampler editor: Adding empty keymaps into an empty program then pressing keyboard keys crashed Orion, fixed.
- Toxic had issues in the delay/reverb section, fixed.
- Orion 64-bit: Minor GUI bug at the bottom of the IR reverb, fixed.
- MIDI Export did not export Pitch Bend data properly, fixed.
- Mixer channel EQ saturation option did not always work properly, fixed.
Removed:
- Preview Drum/Sampler switches (now always ON, makes no longer sense to have them turned off)
- ReWire enabled (always on for 32-bit version, off for the 64-bit version)
- Autochord tool (not nearly as good as the next chord tool)
